The NRA Foundation Awards Equipment Grant to the New Madrid County R-1 Archery Teams
New Madrid -- The NRA Foundation has awarded the New Madrid County R-1 Archery Program grant totaling $ 5,800 to fund 3D archery targets, bullseye targets, bows, quivers, arrows, and a bow rack. "We are very excited about New Madrid County Archery, "said Melanie Crow, "and pleased that the NRA is making an investment in our community."
This is our 7th year having an archery program, and it is still growing. With the new state level requirements for 3D competition, the addition of the new 3D targets will help more of our students qualify for state level competitions.
We teach archery to a good portion of our student body each year in addition to our team using the equipment, and like everything else, things wear out and break. The new targets and bows allow us to have more students on the shooting line at the same time, so we use each piece of equipment less times repetitively, and the students get more time engaged in the activity. We view this as a true win-win situation.
