Dear New Madrid County R-1 Families and Community, In an abundance of caution and with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority, New Madrid County R-1 School District will be dismissing at 12:00 PM today due to the inclement weather moving into the area. This early dismissal will ensure that all students riding buses and those who drive have enough time to get home safely before conditions worsen. Buses will run their normal routes beginning at noon, and we ask parents of car riders to plan for early pickup. Additionally, all after-school programs, sports, and extracurricular activities are canceled. Please continue to monitor school communications, including our website, social media, and local news, for any further updates. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to keep our students and staff safe. Stay warm & safe, New Madrid County R-1 School District

Dear New Madrid County Central R-1 families! I want to take a moment to reassure you that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we’re always proactive in protecting our schools. This morning, we conducted metal detector and bag checks as part of our ongoing efforts to stay ahead of any potential concerns in response to the unfortunate nationwide trend of threats aimed at disrupting schools. I'm happy to report that no unlawful items were found. These measures were taken simply out of caution, and we want you to feel confident that we are doing everything possible to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for our students. We’re fortunate to have the strong support of local law enforcement, and together we will continue to keep our schools secure. Thank you for your trust and partnership! We look forward to another productive and safe day of learning. Best regards,
Bridgett Masterson

🚨 Attention New Madrid County R1 Parents, Guardians, and Community Members 🚨 We are aware of a recent social media trend where students are using threats in an attempt to cancel school. Unfortunately, this trend has now reached New Madrid County R1 School District. While the threat has been determined to be unsubstantiated and part of the trend, please know that we are taking it seriously. The safety and security of our schools is always our top priority, and we have been in close contact with school leaders and law enforcement to ensure a safe environment for all. 👉 Important Information: • The school week will proceed as usual, with increased law enforcement presence and continued vigilance. • The investigation is ongoing, and there will be consequences for anyone participating in this trend. • We urge parents to remind their children not to repost or spread threatening messages online. Together, we can ensure a safe and secure space where our students can learn and grow. Let’s stay #EagleStrong and work together to protect our community. 🦅💪
