In an abundance of caution and with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority, New Madrid County R-1 School District will be dismissing at 12:00 PM today due to the inclement weather moving into the area. This early dismissal will ensure that all students riding buses and those who drive have enough time to get home safely before conditions worsen.
Buses will run their normal routes beginning at noon, and we ask parents of car riders to plan for early pickup. Additionally, all after-school programs, sports, and extracurricular activities are canceled.

The New Madrid County R-1 School District will be in session tomorrow, February 18th.
We will closely monitor the incoming weather conditions. If we need to dismiss early, we will communicate this through our Facebook page, text alerts, and school app. We are providing this announcement in advance so that parents can consider a backup plan in case of an early dismissal.
Attention Senior Parents! FAFSA Night and Senior Parent Meeting are tonight (Thursday, 2/13) at the high school!
Due to a significant increase in illness among students and staff, New Madrid County R-1 Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 30, and Friday, January 31, 2025.
All extracurricular activities, including sports and after-school programs, are also canceled. Our custodial teams will be deep-cleaning our buildings to ensure a safe return.
We encourage everyone to rest, recover, and take care of themselves. We look forward to welcoming students and staff back on Monday, February 3, 2025, as long as they are fever-free.

Due to a rise in illness among students and staff, all schools in the New Madrid County R-1 School District will be closed on Friday, January 24, 2025. During this time, our custodial and maintenance teams will deep clean and sanitize all school buildings to help reduce the spread of illness and ensure a safe return for everyone.

This morning, we conducted metal detector and bag checks as part of our ongoing efforts to stay ahead of any potential concerns in response to the unfortunate nationwide trend of threats aimed at disrupting schools. I'm happy to report that no unlawful items were found.
These measures were taken simply out of caution, and we want you to feel confident that we are doing everything possible to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for our students. We’re fortunate to have the strong support of local law enforcement, and together we will continue to keep our schools secure.
